Topic Description:
New substances marketed as sleep aids, dietary supplements, mood enhancers, or brain boosters are often labeled as "safe" when they can, in fact, be addictive and even life-threatening. Many of these substances evade traditional drug tests, and others can be disguised in vape pens, making them harder to detect. Edibles, mistaken for candy, are also impacting the health and safety of elementary-age children.

This presentation explores current drug trends, where these substances are being sold, and how adults can recognize the warning signs.

Takeaways:
- Understand emerging substances & how they are marketed to youth
- Identify behavioral and physical signs that may indicate substance misuse
- Recognize the surprising places drugs are being accessed and sold
- Learn how edibles, especially gummies, are impacting younger children
- Learn how other states have lowered risk

*A recording of this training will be emailed to all participants who register.
