We hear it all the time, "I understand why my students are acting out, shut down, or having a hard time but now what? How do I respond in the moment?". Being trauma-informed is one thing, but translating science, knowledge and experience into daily work, minute-to-minute interactions and quick decisions is another. And it's hard. The purpose of this interactive training is to help attendees understand and utilize both proactive and reactive strategies designed to support children and young people whose brains and bodies have been impacted by developmental trauma and attachment disruptions.
This session will be delivered with the assumption that most attendees have a basic understanding of how developmental trauma impacts brain development and capacity. However, a brief overview of attachment will be provided. Then, using real-life examples and Chaddock's Developmental Trauma and Attachment Program (DTAP®) as a foundation, we will teach attendees how to prepare for their student's needs, and how to respond to them in real time.
